The Holiday Dr project is almost complete. There was an old dated wood burning fireplace in there that Ashley and I wanted to update. We decided to give it a whitewash. It was a very easy project (took us 1-2 hours). We mixed 2 parts water to 1 part white flat latex paint and brushed it on and dabbed with rags to catch drips. We used a high heat paint on the log box. We were able to find a massive reclaimed beam from a house built in 1860 from our friends at Novelty Wood! I trimmed and down and mounted it up. We think it looks great!

Once we got into this house we quickly realized that it was much worse than we thought. We basically had to take it down to the studs, floor joists and gut the whole thing. From years sitting vacant and an obvious flood from a water heater or sink, you could fall through the floor in mulitple spots. No plywood on the floors, just 2 ply particle board made the demo a headache. The crew did a great job of fixing all the sagging and broken floor joists and putting down new subfloor. Outside we had another crew going full blast on a new roof, new windows, updated siding, building some gables out of the ugly semi-dormers that were in place on this home. The whole house will be brand new. From custom kitchen cabinets, wood flooring to our super custom design for the master bathroom that will needs its own blog by the time we are done with it.
Holiday Dr is a massive project that we started on November 11th. This house is a 4/2.5 approx. 2400 sqft in Columbia County GA. It's located in a great established neighborhood in an excellent school district. The problem with this house is that it is TRASHED!! It has been vacant for who knows how long and has been flooded and NEVER maintained during its existence. We are always up for a challenge, but this may be more than we bargained for. The plan for this house is to open up the front by removing all of the trees and shrubs. New roof, windows, some elevation changes to the dormers by adding small gables above them and new garage doors will help the outside. Landscaping during the winter is always a challenge.
